Gallery info
Nestled amongst
the quaint assortment of shops in downtown Corinth is the Corinth Artist
Guild Gallery, a haven for local artists and art enthusiasts.
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 507 Cruise
Street , its a welcoming stop on a leisurely downtown stroll.
Guild
president and founding member James Sonny Boatman hopes
visitors to Corinth will consider taking home a piece of locally made
art as a memento instead of a generic souvenir.
Rather than getting something made in Taiwan that has Corinth
printed on it, why not choose some thing with local flavor that was
produced in Corinth or the vicinity, suggested Boatman.
The guild formed to provide a place for talented local artists to display
their creations and to have art workshops and educational activities.
The organization is non profit, and there is never an admission fee
to browse the gallery.
Many of the displayed items can be purchased.
We have a wide variety of original art in many mediums and lots
of prints and note cards made from the originals. We also have hand-crafted
items such as ceramic and stained-glass pieces, pottery and turned-wood
objects.
Artists
are represented from Corinth and a number of surrounding communities.
The gallery features special exhibits spotlighting the work of local
artists and different types of mediums. These items are usually displayed
on the center panels and in the front window of the gallery.
Exhibits generally
change on a monthly basis.
The gallery periodically hosts classes for people of all ages to help
spark their creativity and hone their skills.
Youths are involved through classes and exhibits by local high school
students as part of the guilds educational mission.
The gallery is supported financially by guild-paying dues members and
donations from sales of art displayed at the gallery.
Gallery visits are also available by appointment outside the normal
hours. Contact the gallery at 665-0520 for more information.
